What is
the Imagination Exchange
The Imagination Exchange is an idea born after a five year experience in Ghana, West Africa. Its aim is to support children with limited means, adults in need, and to nurture kindness and compassion. We believe that everyone matters, and children especially deserve the opportunity to learn and to be allowed to dream.
We support different organizations, causes and individual initiatives that share our values. In the past we have worked with various public schools in Ghana, as well as St. Nicholas Preparatory School in Tema, and have also supported refugees in Athens.
Through fundraising and awareness-raising projects, The Imagination Exchange has provided books, miscellaneous learning and horizon-expanding material (such as musical instruments!), and even eye glasses (a scarce commodity in underprivileged communities in Ghana).
As our name suggests, our practices are about an exchange.
We propose service in exchange for the privilege of getting to know someone, and in exchange for growing through the service experience. We hope to cultivate a philosophy of service as part of everyday life, and an outlook that maintains dignity and respect for others, regardless of their life situation, without judgement.
As young people, we have an opportunity to shape our world. Learning to communicate, learning to listen, learning to be kind and empathetic are key in personal growth and in creating a positive footprint.
